RIVER OAKS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA (ROCO) MISSION

The River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO) personalizes the orchestral experience by inviting the audience into the musician’s world through interactive concerts by our 40 national and international performers; exciting music, old and new; fun-to-read, magazine-style programs; and the ROCOrooters music education/childcare program for children age 10 and under that runs in tandem with and after the concert.

ROCO is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

FOUNDER AND PRINCIPAL OBOIST

Alecia L. Lawyer is the founder, artistic director and principal oboist of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO) which personalizes the orchestral experience by inviting the audience into the musician’s world through interactive concerts with 40 professional musicians from around the nation and conductors from around the world. ROCO performs exciting music old and new, produces fun-to-read, magazine-style playbills and offers the innovative ROCO-rooters music education/childcare program for children 10 and under during and after the concerts.

After receiving her Masters from Juilliard and her Bachelors from SMU, Alecia Lawyer’s career has ranged from recording for John Cage and soloing with Rostropovich to a contemporary chamber music recital at Carnegie Hall, live radio broadcasts in New York, and disc jockeying for KRTS-92.1FM, Houston, TX. Enjoying a year residency in France, she recorded with the Sorbonne orchestra, performed recitals in Paris, and concertized with various orchestras in France and Germany. She has performed in Houston as Principal Oboist with Houston Chamber Orchestra (formerly Bayou City), American Radio Chamber Orchestra (ARCO) and OrchestraX.
