Tammy Linn
Tammy Linn

Instrument: Violin

Originally from: Perth, Western Australia

Now reside in: Austin, TX

Age: 40

Birthday: June 4

How did you get started? I began violin lessons in third grade through the public schools.

What do you do when you’re not playing with ROCO? Teaching and keeping track of Brian Lewis.

What are you listening to on your iPod? Hard to believe, but I don't own one!

What did you do this summer? I have a new puppy named Twinkle, a beautiful long-haired German shepherd. She is a gift from one of my violin students.

Personal info: Single, one wonderful dog

Question you're asked most often: What is Suzuki? Answer: My briefest of answers would be music learning based on Dr. Shinichi Suzuki's mother tongue approach and the belief that every child can learn given the proper environment.

Interests outside music: Running, alpine skiing, gardening, yoga, church activities

Education: BM, New England Conservatory; MM, North Carolina School of the Arts; DMA, University of Texas at Austin

Bio: Tammy Linn remains indebted to all the wonderful people who have nurtured her in her musical journey, especially to her Suzuki teachers and mentors, Barbara Barber and Brian Lewis. Dr. Linn currently resides in Austin, TX where she teaches, freelances, and coordinates the Starling Distinguished Violinist Series. She would love to tell you about the music ministry in Cuba with which she is involved!
